In Greek mythology, Phthonus is the personification of jealousy and envy.

He is thought to be the son of Dionysus and Nyx, although some sources have cited him as a son of Aphrodite, the goddess of love.

The feminine counterpart to Phthonus is the goddess of retribution, Nemesis.
