When you see quicksand in movies, it can look quite terrifying as the sand quickly envelops the actor’s legs, and they slowly sink into the sand.

Quicksand is a natural phenomenon which occurs when wet sand collapses upon itself.

Luckily, in nature, quicksand is rarely more than a few feet deep.

If you ever find yourself in a pit of quicksand, it’s important not to panic or flail around, because it will only make the situation worse.

Try to stay calm and you should be able to float back to the top.

However, sometimes, quicksand can also be quite deep and dangerous, as you can see in the video below, so definitely be careful!
