Today I am reviewing Shoyeido Diamond incense sticks.

These are a part of Shoyeido’s jewel series.

Shoyeido states that the Diamond formulation symbolizes ‘power’.

Ingredients: Sandalwood (Santali lignum), Frankincense (Olibanum), Cinnamon (Cinnamonomi cortex), Ginger Lily (Kaempferiae rhizoma) and spices.

Review

These are quite fragrant and are warming in nature.

There is a balanced bouquet of sandalwood, frankincense, cinnamon and ginger lily.

I’m a big fan of this type of incense, particularly combining frankincense and ginger lily, so I’m not surprised that I really like this one.

The amazing thing about this formulation is how balanced the frankincense, cinnamon, patchouli, and ginger lily are. You can sell all three of these, and one does not overpower the other. The ginger lily is the top note. The frankincense in the middle. The cinnamon is always there, and slightly alters the profile of the scents involved, adding a bit of spiciness. The sandalwood is in the background, and does not seem to be the focus of this fragrance, but it is definitely noticeable. The patchouli is arguably in the background too, but it’s still exuding some playful qualities, although it seems to be at the end of the inhale. I think I also detect a little clove.

I presume they named this one diamond, because although it is warming, it seems to be light and clearing.

There is minimal burning smell in this one.

It’s mostly fragrance.

Considering these are one of Shoyeido’s lower-cost offerings, I would personally say these are pretty amazing.
